| Senior Member | here's one that should get some conversations going. this year i laid my trusted savage 10fp in 308w down and picked up a weatherby varmintmaster in 22-250. i decided to deer hunt with this rifle. after loading it with hand loaded 60 grain nosler partitions i took it to the field. the results were impressive! when keeping the target at 200 yards or less the nosler punched right through every deer i shot at killing them instantly. i killed a 175lb sow with a shot to the neck at 85 yards. upon skinning the hog i found the round had done quite a bit of tissue damage. i dont think a ballistic tip would have been the round of choice because of there explosive expansion but the partition retained about 80 percent of its weight when i removed it from the hog..which by the way stopped about 1/4 inch from exiting its neck. i plan on using it again this coming season.

| Yeah, thats a hot round. We dot an old guy that shot a .17. Hits all the deer in the head. He's the type that eats everything and would get pissed if he couldn't get the 2 front shoulders lol. But after seeing them head shot's that was impressive. I had a friend shot a coon w/22-250 and that thing was like a "dish rag". So i can say w/ that noslar and you hand loading, its got to be throwing some punch |
