I have been hunting since I was 6, 7 or 8. I can't actually remember. Went on my first dove shoot when I was around 9. Shot an antique 410 winchester pump. Wish I still had it. That would have been about 1962. I bought a 12 guage wingmaster pump when I was twelve. It is still my favorite scatter gun. I started out in South Georgia where I lived to age 27. Did a lot of quail hunting. Lived near St. Louis in Illinois for 25 years hunting waterfowl and whitetail deer. Now I live in Colorado and should be sneaking up on Elk and Mule Deer soon. I love blackpowder and I also love pre-64 winchester rifles.

Everybody gets to make their own choice. This is my short justification for hunting. Men and women have been hunting for at least 4,000 years but most probably longer. Hunting is almost hard wired in me. It connects me with who I really am. The last 100 years is just a thin vaneer; man is a hunter, I think, more than he is anything else. I enjoy gathering too, things like mushrooms, berries and nuts. It is just instinctive with me. I enjoy growing things. These are all natural processes. Hunting is in my view more enviornmentally friendly. Your groceries come out of fields where only one animal or crop is grown. My wild meat comes out of a forest that supports a whole ecosystem. I spend my money on wild game, not beef out of a pasture or shed.

I was brought up in a family that hunted for many years. My first experience hunting was when I was about 10 years old and I got to go on a bird hunt. I was amazed by guns and what they could do. Bought my first gun at 18 and never looked back. I am an avid hunter and love to pursue almost any type of game. I have never and will never waste any of the meat from the animals that I harvest. We make all sorts of things with the meat, just to name a few, sausage, teriyaki, jerky and barbeque meat (korean style).
