| There were five of us fishing for halibut in Alaska off the back of a boat. We all had our lines in the water and just bouncing the bait off of the bottom while trolling around. The fishing was slow and the waves were big, everyone was starting to get a little sea sick. Suddenly one of the guys said "I've got one" a few seconds later I had a bite pretty soon we were all hooked up with a bite. We all just thought we must have found a good school of halibut. We soon realized that it was just one bite and it tangled up all of our lines. so all we could do is reel in together until we got the fish out of the water. Well it was no 300 pound halibut or anything like that, it was about a 28 inch long shark nothing big but still a shark. Our poor guide was pretty upset cause he had to cut all of our lines and rig up all the poles again. |

| Senior Member | i caught a 7 and1/2 foot long hammerhead shark while fishing in the mouth of the savannah river once. not a very big shark but i was in a 12 foot john boat with a 9.9 mercury outboard.when the fish came around to the stern and went down he almost pulled the boat under. you should have seen the expression on the faces of the people at the dock when we showed up with the fish |
