Lever-action rifles are some of the most nostalgic hunting guns there are. They have proven themselves throughout well over a century of hard use, and that's nothing to sneer at.... Link To Original Article

I am looking for a gun for elk in heavy cover. I have been shooting Bolt actions almost exclusively for years. I can't quite warm up to the lever guns. In shotguns I shoot 870 wingmaster pumps. I have been thinking a Remington Pump Rifle would point, operate, and shoot very naturally in my hands. Safety might even be in the same place. Accuracy I hear is acceptable although no great shakes. Wonder if I could find one of those Remington pumps in .338 mag.

I found an interarms bolt action with a 23 inch barrel in 30-06. It is a Mannlicher/Mauser knockoff made in Czecoslavakia. I am planning to put a low power scope on it. It should be a good brush gun. Proabably I will use 180 grain to 220 grain bullets.
